Just had an interesting conversation with one of my new-conservative, right wing crazy " friends". Wanted to know what I thought of Obama's immigration reform announcement. Not due until tomorrow, but ok.... I told him that if Congress would do it's job, the President wouldn't have to take this action and submitted my own reform plan:

  1. Open the borders
  2. Hand everyone that comes across a union card
  3. Make every employer pay Union wages to every worker
  4. Enact a surcharge on the employer for every foreign worker that would pay for any cost of having that worker in the USA
Under my plan employers would prefer to hire American workers because they are cheaper! His response?  "Right now employers get tax breaks for hiring illegals and people with green cards."   It BURNS people... It BURNS!

Karma... it's a heartless bitch!

I'm not saying that I wish any harm to any person or living being. I'm just saying, if you treat people like sh#t, care nothing for your fellow human beings, go out of your way to be a hateful, horrible, bratty person, can you really be surprised when the nastiness you spew comes back to you.... I'm just sayin.....

God Does Not like Hate!

My family is full of born-agains.... born again Christians, born again Mormons, born again 7Th Day Adventist, etc.... In most of these dramatic conversions, the full first half of this person's life was spent NOT following the Word of God... some of them even voiced doubt of God's existence. Me... I was born Catholic... had religion crammed down my throat since day one! In church every Sunday, Holy Day of Obligation, or just cuz! Confession, First Communion, Confirmation, catechism ... you name it, I had to do it... I am not a religious person now. The hypocrisy is too much for me to handle and I am convinced that religion is the root of all evil.... created by man to advance the interest of man... Used to instigate war and hate, yadda, yadda, yadda. Believe in God? Yes. Religion? No. But one thing I learned during those many hours in the pew is that God does not hate. He does not like hate... In fact, if you hate you may end up somewhere you really don't want to be...... That small bit of religion seems to lost on all the born-agains cuz real hate seems to be number one on their list of things to do, especially if it is hatred of the first black president of the USA!

The latest evidence of the hypocrisy of religion came when one of my relatives became of fan of a page on FB called DEAR LORD, THIS YEAR YOU TOOK MY FAVORITE ACTOR, PATRICK SWAYZIE. YOU TOOK MY FAVORITE ACTRESS, FARAH FAWCETT. YOU TOOK MY FAVORITE SINGER, MICHAEL JACKSON. I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW, MY FAVORITE PRESIDENT IS BARACK OBAMA. AMEN. Now this person has pictures of Jesus Christ on her walls, spends half her weekends in church and many weeknights too! She prays over snacks! Yet she finds it OK to express that she thinks its OK to pray for the death of the President!!??? What ever happened to "voting the bums out"... waiting until the next election and trying to win the election? What ever happened to writing to your elected representative, raising money, and doing all the normal things to get your guy in office? Praying that he dies??? REALLY??!!

And she is not the only one. I got folks telling me not to give up on Jesus in one sentence, while admitting that he doesn't like Obama because he is black.... I'm tired of these people... When someone tells me that they listen to Fox News because it is fair and balanced or that they like the tea party crowd, I can't help it... I know they are ignorant and easily lead. I think less of them, not because they are conservative, but because they are stupid. Have you heard how Glen Beck talks to people? He thinks they are stupid too!

Whatever happened to Sportsmanship?

Yesterday a high school football team coached by my husband's niece's husband (there must be an easier way to say that!) lost their CIF championship game... Apparently with only 2.9 seconds (that's seconds folks) the opposing team threw a hail Mary pass that connected and they won the game.... response from the adults...? The other team was privately funded and recruited heavily for their players! Not being at all interested in high school games of any type, I don't keep up with CIF regs, but it seems to me that their are rather stringent rules governing that type of thing. And, if they did put all types of efforts into buying players, I would want a refund! 2.9 seconds and a hail Mary pass...? Sounds like these teams were very well matched and it was a great game.... Leave it to adults to teach kids to whine about life not being fair...

Harry Ried is Slow....

Well, Harry Ried has finally decided to include a public option in his health care bill... wow! He really must be slow... or has commitment issues. All this time I was dead certain that a public option for health care was a must... Progressive Democrats of America were clamoring for single payer health care... Obama promised a public option long ago.... private health insurance companies would have carte blanch to continue to rape us if a requirement that everyone obtained health insurance was included without a public option.... and NOW he says his bill will include it!!? I am not impressed with Harry Ried.

Now we get to find out what kind of public option we will end up with... will it only be available to those who can't get insurance through an employer? Will it only be available where other plans are not available... will it be a real public option available to EVERYONE so that insurance companies will have real competition that will make them improve their product, reduce their prices (hint... no one, even the CEO of a health insurance company needs to make $57K a minute... cut there first!) and instead of existing solely for their shareholders, start thinking of their customers and saving lives... We will see... Now is not the time to stop calling... where's the phone!?

What I have learned from Precient walking

1. There are a lot of ignorant people out there. They far outnumber the folks who are not ignorant. They aren't stupid, they are ignorant. Stupid you can't fix. Ignorance is something that can be remedied.
2. Most ignorant people do not want to be fixed. They are comfortable in their ignorance and want to stay that way. Too much information takes them out of their comfort zone. That's why they like things like Fox News. It hands them information in short sound bites that are easy to digest and repeat. They don't know what the issues are or if they are affected by them. They don't want to know....They figure someone else will take care of it. They hang on to the belief that as long as they stay in their neighborhood, in their house, they will be ok which probably explains #3
3. So many people are afraid to even come out of their houses, much less talk to someone they don't know. If you live in South Central Los Angeles, I can understand it. I can't understand why you are afraid on a beautiful morning in Moreno Valley. I shouldn't have to ring your doorbell. You should already be outside!
4. There are a lot of nice people out there and walking around on a beautiful day to talk to some of them isn't a bad way to spend your time.

It's funny how a few degrees can change a day. It was a little cooler today so I could go outside and work on my yard a little bit.... Being confined to the house because it is too hot really makes retirement suck. I guess I could get some of my indoor activities going again but I think I would rather pout! It's the hot weather. It makes me crabby!
